About Siberian Forest Cats

The Siberian is a medium to large cat with the overall appearance of excellent  physical condition, strength, balance, power, and alertness, modified by a sweet  facial expression.  Russia has documented Siberian Forest Cats for hundreds of years.  Russian families relay fond tales of their Siberians and their amazing loyalty  and personalities, but these cats also have played a practical role on farms as  rodent control.

Siberians are considered hypoallergenic because they naturally have a lower than average occurrence of the FelD1 protein (which is what allergy sufferers react to).  To see more about allergies, please visit our page on Allergies

Siberian cats are very personable and want to be near their owners. They  enjoy the company of children, dogs, and other animals. They are fearless and  easygoing. We absolutely love their dog-like personalities. Most cats play fetch, and even sit or stay like a dog.  They are an active breed and love to play. With some of our cats being from Russian descent, we do find our babies have strong hunting instincts. With that, they are so much fun to watch playing, climbing and pouncing on each other.

At the end of the day, they love to snuggle up to you on the couch, or in bed, and are super affectionate.

Like every breed, they can have health susceptibilities but they are a hardy breed with few issues.

They are typically a larger cat. Our cats average 8-12 lbs for females, and 10-15 lbs for males.

Breed Standard:
A well balanced cat with substantial muscle tone. They have a slightly arched back from the shoulders, with medium length legs, slightly longer hind legs. They have a modified wedge head, proportional to the body. Narrowing, full, round muzzle with slight curvature . Round-almost shaped eyes that angle to the base of the ears. Ears are equally spaced on the sides and top of the head, rounded, tilted slightly forward.
